Memoriagraph and Memory Timeline | 2016

"Autobiographical memory concerns events that you remember (rather than ones about which you have been told) and relates to particular events that happened at particular times and places. We are interested in your earliest memory of a specific event, not a generalised memory from the time period. Please fill in a card with a brief description of your earliest memory of this type. Then try to estimate the age you were when the event occurred." (Memory Time Line wall text)

During the run of the exhibition 'States of Mind: Tracing the Edges of Consciousness' audiences were invited to participate in this reworked version of 'Memory Timeline' (first shown 2003)  exploring autobiographical memory and childhood amnesia.

In a new accompanying sound work 'Memoriagraph' (2016), spoken memories clustered and dispersed in an emergent digital archive.

States of Mind: Tracing the Edges of Consciousness ran from February 4, 2016 - October 16, 2016 at the Wellcome Collection, London.
